From the Hospital to the Salon
For over 40 years, my mission has been simple: Preserve, don’t destroy. My journey began in clinical nursing at the Hospital for Joint Diseases, where I learned the medical weight of patient care and the ethics of "Do No Harm."
When I transitioned into hair extensions in 1991 and into hair restoration in 2002, I realized that the styling industry lacked the clinical oversight necessary to protect the "silent sufferers" of Trichotillomania.
I developed a stabilization protocol that preserves the natural hair, leading to this documented 15-year remission case.
In 2008, I successfully championed House Resolution 875 in the Pennsylvania House, securing the first official state recognition for the BFRB community together with then-State Representative (later Senator) Mario Scavello.
Today, I am calling on you to help me take this mission national.
The Call to the Professionals:
If you are a hairdresser who believes in change, this is your call to action. We are more than stylists—we are wellness professionals critical to patient mental health. But for too long, our work has been ignored by the healthcare system. It’s time to sign up, get counted, and lead the change.
The Mission: National Insurance Parity.
We are advancing from state recognition to national systemic change. Our goal is to ensure BFRB stabilization is included alongside Cancer and Alopecia in medical prosthetic codes A9282 and S8095.
We aren't just building a list we are building an evidence-based network of P.H.D.
