Our History: Discover Our Origins

From Nursing, to Cosmetology, to Hair Loss Expert, to Nonprofit.

Our story is one of purpose evolving from deep care. It began in nursing, cultivating a holistic understanding of well-being. This foundation led to cosmetology, where the power of appearance to uplift confidence became clear. As a dedicated hair loss expert, our founder then recognized a profound need for immediate solutions to the emotional and psychological impact of conditions like Trichotillomania.

Even while working within corporate salon structures and striving to foster education and awareness there, it became clear that the widespread need for compassionate, accessible help still persisted, and that existing advanced training wasn't reaching everyone who truly needed it.

This vital mission, driven by a desire to serve all, transcended conventional business and culminated in our nonprofit. Today, this unique journey—from compassionate care to specialized artistry and selfless service—equips HelpMe2Stop to empower individuals with immediate image confidence, providing tangible hope and beauty beyond the search for a cure, fueled by a united community.

"As a hair loss specialist, I realized my industry was doing a lot for Cancer related hair loss but overlooking an even bigger one: Trichotillomania, which affects millions more. HelpMe2Stop was created to educate beauty professionals and transform them into Community Champions who can provide a true sanctuary for those suffering in silence. We give them the tools to provide immediate image confidence and hope beyond the search for a cure"- Charlene Blacer, Founder

BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD MAY 2014

Charlene Blacer, a hair loss specialist dedicated to improving the lives of people with Trichotillomania (a hair-pulling disorder affecting an estimated 1-2% of the global population) since 2005, witnessed firsthand the shame and isolation they faced.

As a long-time volunteer for Look Good Feel Better, she saw the support available for Cancer patients and recognized a significant gap in services for those with hair-pulling disorders.

"Most people who pull out their hair are embarrassed to go to a salon,"

Charlene noted, realizing the need for a more understanding approach. This led her to found HelpMe2Stop, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that raises awareness about Trichotillomania, offers hope and healing, and provides non-judgmental support, including specialized hair care advice, support groups, and referrals.

HelpMe2Stop trains beauty professionals to create supportive environments, helping individuals manage their hair pulling and naturally regrow their hair—often after years of struggle—without drugs or long-term therapy, solutions many healthcare professionals are still searching for.

Witness these inspiring transformations, of her journey, photos of hope and resilience and support our inaugural Trichotillomania Awareness Training program and create a powerful impact that causes rippling effects.

SALON GIVES HOPE 2017

A beacon of hope for individuals suffering from Trichotillomania, an obsessive hair-pulling disorder.

A local salon in Stroudsburg is offering a unique remedy for the condition. The article features a 23-year-old woman from Toronto, who traveled over 400 miles to receive treatment, underscoring the significant impact this salon's solution is having.

Experts in the field note that Trichotillomania is often a chronic and challenging disorder to treat, making the local salon's intervention a notable development in providing relief and restoring confidence for those affected by this life-altering ailment.
